FINDINGS

Based on the Twitter analysis as well as other social media platforms more generally:

1) Climate change-related hashtag use has increased on Twitter, which shows the growing  awareness and attention on climate change participation.

2) Social media has led to widespread networks of climate advocates, dispersing operational and geographic spheres.

3) The discourse on climate change has shifted towards a “crisis” frame.

4) Social media allows activists, especially youth, to create a specific climate narrative shaped by images and hashtags.

5) Social media amplifies the voices of people who lack political power, including youth and people from marginalized communities.
